Wednesday’s barbaric murder of off-duty British soldier Lee Rigby on the streets of Woolwich, London was horrific and chilling. But was it terrorism? As Glenn Greenwald points out, any selective or partisan deployment of the term is nothing more than propaganda. The thugs who murdered him have no excuse, no legitimate cause, no god to justify their butchery. Yet the fact remains; if it’s terrorism when “they” do it, it’s terrorism when “we” do it.
